Jay Karri MD MPH – BCM PMR Houston
Dr. Karri is a PGY 3 Academic Chief Resident who aspires to become a clinician-scientist and has strong interests in studying intrathecal drug delivery mechanisms, delivery and medications.
Presentation Title: “Novel Mechanistic Insights of Chronic Neuropathic Pain following Spinal Cord Injury”
Christina Paul MD UT Dell PMR Austin
Dr. Paul is a PGY 3 from Bethesda, MD and attended Georgetown University Medical School. She interested in cancer rehabilitation, adaptive sports, neurotrauma and surgical prehabilitation.
Presentation Title: ” Discharge Day of the Week and Function Independent Measure Score”
Chase Smith DO UTHSCSA PMR San Antonio
Dr. Smith is a PGY 3 who attended SMU in his hometown of Dallas where he played football and majored in public relations. He then worked for a brief time for the Cowboys before pursuing a career in medicine. He attended medical school at Campbell University SOM and graduated in the inaugural class. He has interests in General Rehabilitation, NeuroRehab, MSK and Sports Medicine.
Presentation Title: “Acute Overshunting Phenomena: A Case of Pseudo-Meningitis and Proposed Overshunting- Associated Myelopathy”
Dominique Van Beest MD UTSW PMR Dallas
Dr. Van Beest is a PGY 4 and a native Texan. She attended UT Southwestern Medical School where she was awarded PM&R Student of the Year. She completed her preliminary year in internal medicine at the University of New Mexico. She plans to specialize in spinal cord injury medicine and begins her SCI fellowship at the University of Washington in July.
Presentation Title: “Healthcare Utilization and Associated Outcomes of Stage III/IV pressure injuries in Veterans with Spinal Cord Injury”.
